EQUALNovaERA

The Project

EQUALNovaERA aims to position Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE) as an international reference in addressing inequalities’ drivers and effects through research, education, and community engagement while contributing to deepening the European Research Area (ERA) and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

This objective is supported by five pillars:

  1. Create a new Research Group on inequalities
  2. Contribute to the creation of an Institute of Public Policies with the mission of contributing to a more equal and fair society through research, education, and community engagement
  3. Position Nova SBE as an international reference institution in addressing inequalities’ drivers and effects through research and education
  4. Promote science-based awareness on inequalities’ drivers and effects to tackle societal grand challenges
  5. Introduce sustainable structural changes at Nova SBE on and beyond the inequalities’ theme.

Project Impact

The EQUALNovaERA impact embraces scientific and societal & economic domains by:

  • Increasing knowledge on inequalities’ drivers and effects, focusing on Health, Education, Development, Environment, Gender, and Labour
  • Increasing knowledge shared in open access
  • Better integration of Portugal in the ERA
  • Well trained generation on inequalities, through education
  • Improving knowledge sharing results
  • Science-based public policies aiming at reducing inequalities in Portugal
  • Science-based public policies aiming at reducing inequalities, in both developed and developing countries
  • Reducing gender inequalities at academic level and other sectors of the society
  • Increasing awareness on inequalities
  • More innovations used to reduce inequalities
  • Higher public and private investment mobilized to scale-up R&I results
  • More fair and equal society
  • Contributing for achieving the SDGs, in particular Reducing Inequalities (SDG 10), No Poverty (SDG 1), Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) and Climate Action (SDG 13)
